How to infuse Gyokuro tea

1 What to prepare:

  • 5g (0.2 oz) of Houji-cha tea leaves, 
  • A cup or a mug and a teapot
  • 60ml (2.0oz) of boiling water (preferably filtered water) 

2  How to steep Gyokuro tea:

  • Pour hot water into the teacup and teapot to warm.
  • Add the tea leaves in the teapot.
  • Pour hot water at 60℃ (140℉) into the teapot. Let the tea steep for 90 seconds to 2 minutes.
  • Pour the infused water into a cup in 2 to 3 portions. 
  • Be sure to pour out the last drop (it has the most Umami taste).
  • First, put a small amount of tea water on your mouth evenly. You will enjoy Gyokuro’s fresh sweetness. 

3  How to keep tea leaves fresh:

Unless your package is airtight, we recommend you store teas in a tea can.  This is to prevent oxidation and maintain its scent.
